Christmas at the Morris'

I LOVE Christmas time and decorating our house for the season! It really changes the ambiance of the whole house! Here is what our house looks like for the holiday season...

My favorite part of the house!! I love that every ornament on our tree has a story and I just LOVE my deer! I actually left him up all year round, but I'm going to have to change the color of his nose. 

Our entertainment center. I love the light up garland and all the little cubbies where we can put Christmas stuff. 

Trevor and I painted the paintings that are above the cabinets. And I love our new undermounted lighting.

Our new tree!! A sweet friend made this for me and it's probably my new favorite thing! We were so busy we never found a home for it outside, so we got to enjoy it inside this year.

Last but not least, we got so many Christmas cards this year!! I loved getting to display them! 

I feel like we just got everything up and displayed! I can't believe it time to take it all down again!! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal

This year, a group of us decided to have a Tacky Christmas Sweater party that ended with a limo lights tour! Our friends Samy and Brandon had everyone over to their house for a potluck dinner. Trevor and I made stuffed mushrooms, and they were a hit!! (recipe here)  We hung out there for awhile and of course took some pics!

Around 8:30 our limo driver arrived and we hopped in! We are definitely a fun group!

We stopped at Rhema for a photo opp, but it didn't turn out very well, so we stopped at some random house for a photo opp...

DIY Oven Mitts

Here is another easy sewing craft you can do for birthdays/Christmas/etc. All you need is an oven mitt (I found mine at the Dollar Tree), fabric of your choice, a button and a sewing machine. 

I first had to make one for myself to make sure everything turned out the way I planned...

When everything went as planned, I started in on gifts for others!

10 Year Anniversary

As you probably read on the blog post from December 8th, Trevor and I celebrated our 10 year dating anniversary! Since it was just a dating anniversary, we usually don't really celebrate those, but we thought since it was our 10 year, we would do something! So we decided to cook dinner together. We got some nice steaks that Trevor grilled and I made asparagus and mashed potatoes. That night we went to Rhema to look at all the Christmas lights and spent some time together. It was pretty cold out, so we didn't stay out for too long, but we had a good time just walking around.

We said we weren't going to get each other gifts of any kind, but of course Trevor went against his own rule!...and he did good! This requires a little back story, each year since we have been married we have gotten an ornament together for our Christmas tree. Our first year we got in Branson and its a snowman ice skating, our second year we got an M, and our third year we got in Michigan of Big Red, the light house. This year we hadn't gotten one, and honestly we were getting so close to Christmas, I wasn't sure if it would happen. But Trevor surprised me, as usual! Since the 10 year traditional gift is aluminum or tin, he found an ornament online that is heart shaped made from aluminum! Seriously I started tearing up because I thought it was so thoughtful!! Ladies, I am seriously the luckiest girl in the world to have found this guy!! So that was my 10 year anniversary gift!

I thank God every day for this man!! 

Samson Christmas Party

I was going to wait and do both of our work Christmas parties together, but mine got postponed until January. On December 5th, Trevor's work had their Christmas party at the Renaissance hotel here in Tulsa. It was a lot different than EY's Christmas party, but we still had a great time. Trevor even won a door prize! He got a big basket with nice cheese, wine, a knife set and a bar cutting board. They served some amazing food, had a dance floor, and the best part...a photo booth!!

It's so much fun to get dressed up, have a nice dinner and hang out with people in a different atmosphere. 

This was also the day before bedlam, so there was definitely some "trash talking" on who was going to win...

I didn't get ANY pictures of our fun bedlam party we had at our house, but we were definitely excited for the outcome!! We even had Orange Cinnamon Rolls the next morning in celebration!!!

Got Corks?

The last couple years Trevor and I have made home-made gifts for our friends/coworkers/family. I mainly do most of the work, but Trevor does help some of the time. ;) It's fun to work on a little craft together, getting some of that QT before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, and it's fun to give friends a hand-made unique gift!

This was our craft this morning:

Cork Trees!!! 

I found all of the supplies at Hobby Lobby, except the corks of course! I wanted to make more trees than corks that I had, so I bought a box!

Hopefully this will last us a couple years  on our crafting!!

We made mostly small ones, but we did make a couple big ones as well!

If you have some extra corks laying around, this was a really easy project.

Last year we did a reindeer!

Scarves Made Easy

Scarves are always a good gift to give around the holiday season! And it's even better if the scarf is one of a kind! Here is a VERY easy step by step tutorial! I promise, it's doesn't get any easier! 

Supplies needed:

*1 yard of fabric - I like using knit because it's soft and stretchy

*Sewing machine + thread

*Scissors

*Sewing pins

Instructions:

*Cut your fabric to 60in x 22in (you can choose any length/width you want, this just gave me the size I liked)!

*Fold right sides facing and pin just along the long edge. 

*Sew pinned edge together 

*Flip the fabric right side out

*Pin the two openings of the tube right side together. Match the seam up first and then go from there. Pin as far as you can, and then sew as far as you can. It will probably leave about a 3in opening that you will have to hand stitch. 

Loving my new scarf!!! Now, it's time to make some for others!! ;)

Thanksgiving

We had an amazing thanksgiving and we got to see so much family in such a short amount of time! I had several friends this year that planned the whole thanksgiving/cooking for their families; thankfully, we are not there yet! All I had to prepare was a dessert and dinner rolls. It really was stress free and it let us just enjoy our families company, which is what it is all about. On thanksgiving we went to Trevor's mom's house and she had all the family over, including my parents. Since my dad had surgery the week before, they weren't able to travel to Kansas like usual, so they joined Trevor's family. I got several pictures of the day, but sadly, I got a new phone the following day and lost all my pictures! :( I was so sad!!! I stole this one from my sister-in-law.

On Friday we enjoyed the company of Trevor's dad's family. We all went to Trevor's aunt's house and again, all I had to prepare was dessert! His family definitely knows my strong suit! ;) We had so much fun spending quality time with our sweet nephews!! Again, I got a couple great pictures, but lost them when I got a new phone! 

Saturday was Trevor's brother's family last day to be in Tulsa, so we did a little cook out at Trevor's mom's to spend more time with them!

It was so windy, this was probably the best photo we got!

Saturday afternoon Trevor and I had a date day! We booked a date at Pinot's Palette!

They turned out so good!!! We kind of tweaked the original one so our deer could be facing each other and we could hang them side by side. 

My thanksgiving celebration came to a close yesterday. We had a Friendsgiving yesterday and it was delicious!! Great company and great food!
