I Tip My Hat to 2014

I have done this every year that I have been blogging and it's so fun to go back and look at your year in review!

January
I never actually blogged about this particular thing, so this will be the first time mentioning it on here, but my favorite thing about January of 2014 was choosing a word for the year. Lifechurch challenges everyone to choose a word for the year that will help keep you focused on your goal. Trevor chose the word Devout and I chose the word Listen. I can only share my personal testament to this, but this was the best thing that I did all year. I learned a lot through prayer in this word and I hope that I will continue my journey with this word along with choosing another one for 2015. Again, I can only share my personal testimony for this, but I think that Trevor really grew into his word as well. He has done some life changing things this year and I think a lot of it can be pinpointed to choosing this particular word. I love the decisions that he has made for our family and the path that we are headed on.

February
The most exciting thing that happened in February of 2014 was the start of me singing at Lifechurch. It has honestly been the most uplifting experience! The other musicians that are there each weekend are so talented and some of the nicest people I have ever met! I love getting to do that each and every weekend! (read about it here)

March
For my birthday this year we took a trip to Fort Worth, TX with our neighbors. We had done this the last couple of years and it's something I really look forward to! We had a great time this year as well. Trevor and I both got new boots, we got tickets to the PBR and Justin Moore concert, and we got to make memories with our sweet neighbors! Boots for Birthdays - read about it here!

April
This month we built a firepit! We love having people over and hosting different parties throughout the year, so this really added to our entertainment value! Testing Out the Firepit

May
The best part about May of 2014 was our trip to Mexico to witness two of our great friends getting married! Becoming the Bullocks

June
The best part about June was my parent's house selling! It has been an ongoing prayer for the last couple years and it was a joyous day when they could walk away from it! Although I will miss this awesome house, it was just way too big for two people!! Goodbye House on Indianapolis

July
In July of 2014 we got to take a vacation with Trevor's dad's side of the family. We went to Port Aransas. We had never been there before, so it was fun to explore new places and hang out with people we normally don't get to see. We also ate seafood everyday which was my FAVORITE!!! Port Aransas

August
We paid off the Golden Goddess!!! August

September
FOOTBALL!!!! This year we bought OSU football tickets. It felt like we were in Stillwater every weekend! It was so much fun to get to be in the tailgating atmosphere and see people that we hadn't seen since college!
Home Game 1
Home Game 2

October
In October of 2014 we took a trip to Arkansas to watch an Arkansas game. We went with our friends Katie and Andrew and stayed the night in Arkansas with Katie's dad. It was really fun to see a different college campus and go to a football game. It rained most of the weekend, but we had a great time through it all! Wooo Pig Sooie

November
Trevor and I got to host a baby shower for my next door neighbor! It was so much fun to plan all of the games and host! We did a joint shower where the girls were inside talking, eating and opening presents and the guys were outside shooting skeet! It was a lot of fun! Baby Shower

December
Getting a hot tub!!! I guess I never really blogged about our hot tub, but Trevor and I have been wanting a hot tub since we lived with my parents when we first moved back to Tulsa. We had one right outside our door when we lived there and we used it all the time! So, needless to say, we were EXCITED!!!

I say it every year...but this year was amazing!! So many exciting things happening in our lives each and every month! I cannot wait to see what 2015 brings!!!
Be safe tonight!!! We are off to trying a new restaurant here in Tulsa and then hanging out with some amazing friends!

Five Christmases

It's just like the movies...except 1 more! Trevor and I keep ourselves pretty busy all year long, but Christmas time gets especially busy. We have actually gotten to see all of our family during the holiday season every year that we have been married. This year was no different! It is such a blessing that we live so close to family and are able to celebrate with everyone.

1. Our celebrations started on Friday, December 19th. Trevor's step-brother Tyler and his wife Lauren were going to be out of town when we normally celebrate with his family, so we had a taco night and celebrated with them that night.

2. We had a little break to finish Christmas shopping and get everything wrapped before our next celebration. On Christmas Eve we celebrated with Trevor's dad side of the family. We went to his grandmamas and played games, opened presents and ate lunch together.

I had to head out kind of quickly after lunch because I was singing in the Christmas Eve services. I was so thankful to be a part of that this year. It was so uplifting and just a great reminder of the reason for the season! #lifechurchba

3. Our 3rd celebration was Christmas morning at Trevor's mom's house. Vanessa made a breakfast casserole and we had mimosas and cinnamon rolls. After breakfast we opened presents and then headed to Trevor's grandmas to see more family.

4. After the celebration with Trevor's mom's side of the family, we headed home because we were making Christmas dinner for my family. Trevor was going to smoke a turkey and I was going to do the sides.
First Wes came oven and we battled it out on the ping pong table. Then my parents came over and we played some games and opened presents.

The turkey took a little longer than expected, thank goodness for this yummy appetizer! (recipe here)

After gifts we had dinner: turkey, green bean casserole, stuffing, gravy, cream corn and yummy cheddar bay biscuits!

First time to make Christmas dinner and I'd say it was a success!! Then we went to the movies. We saw Unbroken and it was amazing! I definitely recommend it!

5. The next morning we headed to Kansas to see my extended family for our last and final Christmas.

It was definitely chilly there!!!

We even brought Whiskey so he could play!
We arrived just in time for dinner on Friday. On Saturday we ate lunch with the whole family, opened presents and then on to most people's favorite part...the gag gifts! I swear there are more gag gifts under the tree than regular gifts! Trevor ended up with stuff that he actually needed and I ended up with some tasty goodies and this sweatshirt...
I'm sure it will come in handy for a tacky Christmas sweater party!!

We are now home and about to pack all our Christmas stuff up!! What a great year!!
Thank you to everyone who we got to see for making this Christmas so wonderful! We loved spending time with you all!

Christmas at the Morris'

I LOVE Christmas time and decorating our house for the season! It really changes the ambiance of the whole house! Here is what our house looks like for the holiday season...
My favorite part of the house!! I love that every ornament on our tree has a story and I just LOVE my deer! I actually left him up all year round, but I'm going to have to change the color of his nose.

Our entertainment center. I love the light up garland and all the little cubbies where we can put Christmas stuff.

Trevor and I painted the paintings that are above the cabinets. And I love our new undermounted lighting.

On our front door

By our front door.

The reason for the season!

During the day

Our new tree!! A sweet friend made this for me and it's probably my new favorite thing! We were so busy we never found a home for it outside, so we got to enjoy it inside this year.

A friend gave me this cute hand towel!

Our table setting. I just love reindeer...can you tell?!

Last but not least, we got so many Christmas cards this year!! I loved getting to display them!

I feel like we just got everything up and displayed! I can't believe it time to take it all down again!! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal

This year, a group of us decided to have a Tacky Christmas Sweater party that ended with a limo lights tour! Our friends Samy and Brandon had everyone over to their house for a potluck dinner. Trevor and I made stuffed mushrooms, and they were a hit!! (recipe here)  We hung out there for awhile and of course took some pics!

Around 8:30 our limo driver arrived and we hopped in! We are definitely a fun group!

We stopped at Rhema for a photo opp, but it didn't turn out very well, so we stopped at some random house for a photo opp...
Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal! And a Happy New Year.

DIY Oven Mitts

Here is another easy sewing craft you can do for birthdays/Christmas/etc. All you need is an oven mitt (I found mine at the Dollar Tree), fabric of your choice, a button and a sewing machine.

I first had to make one for myself to make sure everything turned out the way I planned...

When everything went as planned, I started in on gifts for others!

Just a fun way to jazz up your oven mitts. Happy Sewing!!

10 Year Anniversary

As you probably read on the blog post from December 8th, Trevor and I celebrated our 10 year dating anniversary! Since it was just a dating anniversary, we usually don't really celebrate those, but we thought since it was our 10 year, we would do something! So we decided to cook dinner together. We got some nice steaks that Trevor grilled and I made asparagus and mashed potatoes. That night we went to Rhema to look at all the Christmas lights and spent some time together. It was pretty cold out, so we didn't stay out for too long, but we had a good time just walking around.

We said we weren't going to get each other gifts of any kind, but of course Trevor went against his own rule!...and he did good! This requires a little back story, each year since we have been married we have gotten an ornament together for our Christmas tree. Our first year we got in Branson and its a snowman ice skating, our second year we got an M, and our third year we got in Michigan of Big Red, the light house. This year we hadn't gotten one, and honestly we were getting so close to Christmas, I wasn't sure if it would happen. But Trevor surprised me, as usual! Since the 10 year traditional gift is aluminum or tin, he found an ornament online that is heart shaped made from aluminum! Seriously I started tearing up because I thought it was so thoughtful!! Ladies, I am seriously the luckiest girl in the world to have found this guy!! So that was my 10 year anniversary gift!

I thank God every day for this man!!
