Home Sweet Home

I just can't believe how fast time goes! Trevor and I closed on our house exactly two years ago today! It was such an exciting time since we watched our home being built and we were able to contribute in some of the details that we wanted to add.

Not only do we love having a home, but we were so blessed with meeting some of the best neighbors! They are truly amazing friends and now several of our friends from college live within a mile of us! We are just so content where we are in life and couldn't be happier!

Trevor and I each have our "favorite parts" of our home and where we enjoy spending the most time.

Trevor's favorite would, of course, be the garage/man cave! We have actually put a lot of time and work into this man cave and it is so fun to have when we have people over!

Just recently we got a ping pong table as well, so we have been battling it out every night this past week!

My favorite part of the house would probably be our bedroom! It's very calming and I love our new bedspread that we got a few months ago and the cute Mr. and Mrs. sign!

I absolutely love being a homeowner and sharing it with the love of my life!! We have made some amazing memories here already and I know the best is yet to come!

Happy 2 years in our home!! 🏡

Man Cave - Part 2

In honor of the Man Cave, I am excited to say this is officially my 100 post!!! Crazy!!

I did Man Cave - Part 1 on July 8th. Click on the link to check that out if you haven't read it yet!
We have updated and added quite a few things!! As mentioned in the last post, Trevor wanted to cover the bar top with bottle caps. He had some friends do similar things in college with bottle caps, so since about sophomore year he has been collecting bottle caps! So the first thing we wanted to do was lay out all the bottle caps and see if we had enough/wanted to do some sort of design...
pouring the bags out.

Making sure they were all right side up.

Actually placing them side-by-side!

This is all we had!!!! We were shocked we didn't have enough after 3-4 years of collecting!

We guesstimated that we needed about 2,600 bottle caps to cover the bar and we had about 1,500 at the time.
Trevor wanted to spell "Cowboys" through the middle of the bar, so we ended up buying orange bottle caps online. Once those came in, we basically had to move all the bottle caps aside and start over with placing them in the right positions.

Trevor's dad gave us a ton of Bud Select caps, and since those are black we decided to go all around the orange letters with those.

Fun Fact: No two same caps are touching on the table (excluding the orange and bud select caps)
The caps just sat like this for awhile because we were deciding how to go about putting a clear gloss coat over it since the Glaze Coat is really thick. We decided to put polyurethane down first since it is really liquidy and it basically acted as a glue between the caps and the table top. A couple weeks later we put the thicker Glaze Coat over it and it worked perfect because none of the caps moved even though it was really thick.

I think we are going to put one more gallon of the Glaze Coat on it, but we are taking our time and waiting until after the holiday season because one gallon of that stuff is $60! It looks awesome though!
We have added some new additions to the man cave as well
As you can see we still have our dart board (far left) but we now have a Foosball table as well.

We finally added some decor! I like the OSU flag and the Man Cave Rules, however, we could probably do without the Animal House poster! Trevor just isn't ready to completely let go of college yet! ;)

Light up signs! (these obviously look better at night!)

Cool OSU chairs from Sam's!

Our newest addition to this house is this...

A storm door! It was an early Christmas present from Trevor's parents! We absolutely love it!!! As you can see Winston loves looking out and seeing what's going on in the neighborhood.

I hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday! Trevor actually has to work today, hence why I finally have time to catch up on some blogging!

Man Cave - Part 1

I'm not really sure how many "parts" this post is going to have, but here is the first one dedicated to Trevor's man cave! One of the perks of our home is, it has a 3-car garage. Prior to moving in we decided that the 3rd car garage would be Trevor's man cave.

I was very excited about this because technically the man cave is not "inside" the house! That is a win win in my book. Our main focus has been on the inside of the house and getting everything finished. (Even though, as most home owners would agree, you are never really 'finished' with a home. There are always more projects you want to do). We wanted to have friends over this weekend so Trevor was really motivated to get a move on the bar. The past few weeks he has been working non stop on his man cave. Speaking of this weekend and having friends over...we had such a great time and sadly I didn't take a single picture!!!! I'm very disappointed in myself!...but here are a couple pictures of the progress to the man cave.
Just starting the frame

As you can see he made the dimensions to fit a cooler, a trash can, on the far left will be a mini fridge, and the corner will be shelves.

Please notice the ORANGE wall! This was my contribution to the man cave.

Everything fits perfectly.

We were not planning to put a TV in the man cave until later, but we got a really good deal on a day we were not really looking for one. So we put the new TV in our living room and moved the living room one to the man cave.

He initially bought a cherry looking stain for the trim pieces. After seeing it up against the orange wall it was what we were looking for. The barn tin was all Trevor's idea.

After painting a different stain over the first one. It looks almost black with a little hint of cherry now. It looks great!

The top of the bar will eventually be bottle caps, which Trevor has been saving since his freshman year of college! We have several things we would like to hang on the walls, but that time will come soon. Trevor got an awesome idea for the bar stools...you will just have to wait and see about those! And the final touch will be a pool table...that probably won't be for awhile!
If you need any help building a bar (or something like it) Trevor is pretty close to a pro now!

Have a great Sunday!!! I just noticed I have officially been blogging for a year! Happy Blogger Anniversary to me!
