DIY Tree

So I saw this idea originally on pinterest and just LOVED it! This is before we were really serious about buying/building a house, so I just posted it to a board and thought I would never get around to doing it!

I ended up showing it to Trevor one day thinking he wouldn't really like it, but to my surprise, he said it was a cool idea so I thought I would try it out! Before our house was completely finished I got a projector and took it out to the house and traced a tree on one of our bathroom walls.
I am not very artistic, so the projector was the only way to go...I then painted the tree, which took a lot longer than one might think.

After painting it, I bought some hooks that were a bronze color and vualah! Now we have a place to hang our wet towels and it looks cute!
There are a lot of other ideas on that wonderful website that I just might have to tackle soon!
I hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day Weekend! We are getting all settled into our new place and having a cookout tonight!

Handyman 103 + Mayfest

This weekend we (Trevor, his dad and stepdad) tackled a BIG project!! They build a fence at our new house! I was out there most of the time, but I was doing other projects around the house. I could tell it was really hard work!! Trevor and I are so appreciative to those who helped us...we couldn't have done it without you! Here are some photos of the weekends events!

FINISHED
It looks so easy through pictures...but let me assure you, it is hard work!!! Trevor is now completely worn out from the weekend!! And now we have a whole week ahead of us filled with events...closing is on Thursday morning and we could not be more excited!!! More updates to come this week!!!

Another exciting thing that took place this weekend was Mayfest! Every year since I was about 9 years old I have performed at Mayfest with the exception of the past two years because I was in Branson performing. I was so excited for Mayfest this year because it was the first solo show I have done in awhile and it definitely felt great to be back on the stage. Here are a couple pictures...

Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL week!! I only have two more days with my kids at school...I can't believe the year is almost over!! But I am definitely excited for my 3 months off!! ;)

XOXO

ALMOST FINISHED

It's crazy to think they will be completely done with our house TOMORROW! We have our first big walk through on Tuesday of this week and anything we want them to replace or fix, they have a week to do that...and then we close!!! They still have some touch up work to do tomorrow, along with a couple other big projects, but for the most part they are done! Here are some pictures of the last few things they have added since my last update post...
Our shower

This is just 1/4 of my closet...I'm so excited Trevor and I have seperate closets! ;)
We now have toilets and running water! (It's the little things in life that make you happy!)

dishwaster and sink put in.
CARPET!!! Please excuse the crap on it.

Our kitchen WITH the stone island!!! We just love it!!!

Like I said before, they just have a couple more things to do before closing. We have a few pages full of notes where we would like them to fix some things, but overall this process has gone so smoothly! We are so pleased with how everything is turning out and we cannot wait until May 24th! (Closing day).

Handyman 102

So I can honestly say I did not help with this project at all...but if I am being completely honest with everyone, neither did Trevor. I titled it this because, as I mentioned before, we decided to tackle some projects "ourselves" to save some money. Well luckily, Trevor's dad knows some people and his friend did our back splash for us. We were there watching the whole time, but we really didn't do much to help. Here are some pictures of our AMAZING back splash in the making!

starting...a refrigerator will go right there in the middle.
Finished with this wall....

We are so happy with how everything turned out!!! Thank you Lee!

Handyman 101

Handyman and woman!

As mentioned before, we decided to cut some costs and take on some projects at the house ourselves...first up: painting the trim on the outside of the house. The base house price comes with an exterior house color along with one accent color (shutters, doors, etc...) but we wanted to add a trim color as well, and we thought that would be pretty easy! Well let me just say that we were both really sore after tackling this project...and it took a lot longer than we initially thought.
Trevor took off work last Friday (4/27) so him and his dad could start painting early. (I felt bad because it was Trevor's birthday and all he did all day was paint. I guess birthdays just aren't as fun when you get older). Then on Saturday we went back and painted almost the rest of the house. We got everything done except around the back windows and doors, so yesterday and we went to the house and finished the job! Here are some pictures documenting our progress!..
This picture was taken while the workers were actually painting the house. I don't have a picture of the base color complete before we started painting the trim.

This was taken on Friday after Trevor and his dad were finished for the day. They did all the top peaks, above the garage, around a couple windows and had started taping for the next days painting.
ACTION SHOT! Trevor at the top of the ladder!

ACTION SHOT: me painting all the lower stuff!
ACTION SHOT: finishing up the back

back completed
front completed...PLUS we have a mailbox!!!!
They have made so much progress on the inside, later this week I will post some pictures of that! It is really coming together and it actually feels like a house now! We are SO excited for everything to be completed! I have loved watching the progress...I hope you all have enjoyed it as well! It really feels like our house now since we have started to put work into it! ;) Thanks for reading and keeping up with our lives!!! And a SPECIAL THANK YOU to those who helped us paint!!! We couldn't have done it without you!!!

Happy Birthday Handsome!

Handsome = Trevor (if you haven't figured that out yet!) ;)
Trevor's birthday was this past Friday, April 27, and we had a LOT going on all weekend! All day on Friday Trevor was out at our house painting the trim. We decided to cut some corners with cost and decided it was cheapest to do this job on our own. I will update you with pictures of that later. Friday evening we had a wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner to attend...so celebrating Trevor's birthday was pushed back a few days. The rehearsal dinner was at the casino, so we spent a little money there. On Saturday we woke up early to continue painting the trim on our house (it takes longer than it seems)!!! We were out there all day until we had to get ready for the wedding that evening! And boy, we are still SORE from this manual labor! We had a great time at the wedding, and finally on Sunday we got to celebrate Trevor's birthday. We had a cookout out at his mom's house and had lots of family and friends join us!
We love our friends!!! THANKS to the Stillwater people for making the trip!
