Weekend in Atlanta!

So this past weekend I decided to visit my Best Friend, Nichole in Atlanta! She moved there almost a year ago and I hadn't been to visit yet, so it was a much needed trip! I got in town on Friday night and we went to dinner at Fritti, which is a pizza cuisine. It was really delicious! That night since we had all worked that day and I had just traveled in town, we decided to go to Nichole's boyfriend's new condo and just hang out and catch up. The next morning we got up and went and got pedicures. It was really nice because we ended up getting a back massage for free along with our pedi's. After our massage/pedicures we went to lunch and met up with Josh at Verde, which is a taco taqueria. Since I didn't have much time in Atlanta, we wanted to fit everything possible in, so we decided to go and watch a chick flick! We ended up watching Safe Haven, which I have to say, is a really good movie! I wouldn't mind watching it again...maybe I can talk Trevor into watching it with me. ;) Now, I have to talk about this movie theater because it was something I had never experienced. We went to the AMC theater at Phipps Mall and it was amazing. When you buy your tickets you literally have assigned seating. Before you go in, you have the option to get the normal movie theater food, along with beer, food, or ice cream! Since it was just me and Nichole, we decided to go for the ice cream! Once you find your seat, you realize that your seat is a recliner!! So we ate our ice cream and watched our movie at the movie theater in a recliner...now that is how you watch a movie! I tried to get a picture of us lounging out, but it just didn't happen. That night we decided to go out with some of Nichole's friends from Atlanta. We went to dinner at a place in Buckhead called Tin Lizzy's, which is a fun little bar/restaurant, then we went out in Buckhead. We went a place called Czar Bar and Park Bench. We couldn't really get in Czar Bar because they were filming a reality TV show inside. I wish I had a cool story of getting in this bar and being on some reality show, but I don't...I can't say we didn't try though! Here are a couple pictures of the night!

The next morning we got up and attempted to go to the airport so I could catch a flight on standby. Well, that didn't end up happening, so we drove back to the downtown area of Atlanta and went and ate some brunch at a place called Einsteins...Geez, it sounds like all we did was eat! ;) I ended up catching the next flight to Tulsa on Sunday and was home by dinner time! Overall it was a great weekend and I LOVED catching up with my BF!

Since I have been home I have dealt with an EXTREMELY sick puppy-more on that later, a little redecorating-again, more on that later, and SNOW!!!

I am secretly praying we get a snow day tomorrow...yes, teachers wish for those too! ;)

It's February Already?!?

Time is seriously flying by this year! I honestly feel like we just returned from the cruise...and based on my blogging lately, it looks that way too! Well here is my "catch up" blog!

When we returned from the cruise we had to have our back patio re poured. When we first moved in we noticed there were chunks missing from our back patio concrete. They wanted to redo it, but the only day they could do it was the day we moved in and we didn't really want all of that going on as we were moving in, so we decided to wait. Well, it has been a battle since then. We have been trying to get them to come and redo it since last fall and it just happened.
This is what the whole patio looked like...
After they took out our last patio

Our new patio. You can tell along the left side that Whiskey has been digging!

They have started the dirt work for the neighborhood that will eventually go in behind our home...so when it rains all the water collects right beyond our fence...
We aren't very happy about this situation..I definitely miss the beautiful wheat field that used to be back there.

At then end of January we celebrated Brooks' birthday...this is the only picture I got of the whole evening.
Happy Happy Birthday Matthew Bliss Brooks! ;)

Our good friends Andrea and Matt came over a few weekends ago and we had them bring their new puppy over for a little puppy play date while we hung out...here is Sophie and Winston playing. Sophie is already so big Winston had to stand on the couch to play!

In October of 2011 we ended up getting a treadmill. Trevor was tired of paying a gym membership and thought the treadmill would be a good purchase - personally, I did like the treadmill, but if we were going to spend that much money on something I would have loved an elliptical. Trevor won that battle and we purchased a treadmill. Over the past year and a half I have probably used the treadmill on a consistent weekly basis and well, Trevor hasn't! Recently Trevor's mom started looking for a treadmill and Trevor offered to sell her ours to her and he would get me an elliptical...so that's what we did! We looked at Dick's, Academy, Sears, Target and Walmart and of course, Walmart ended up having the best one and for the cheapest price! We ended up getting a Schwinn brand. I have only used it a couple times, but I love it!
Trevor in the midst of putting it together...it wasn't nearly as difficult as the treadmill.

I'm sure he just loves that I posted this picture!

Last weekend we went to OKC to hang out with friends. Trevor's busy season is about to pick up where he will be working non stop (I think he works too much already, but I know it will only get worse), so we thought we would get away...plus we haven't been to see our friends in OKC in awhile!

love this girl!!

Such a fun weekend!
This week as I was getting ready to go to bed I come out of the bedroom and found this...
They are too funny! Never happy with what is theirs!
I was very excited this week because I got to get my hair done...it was well needed!

This weekend we got tickets to go to the Aaron Watson concert. Personally I have never even heard of Aaron Watson, but our neighbors said he was good and Trevor knew a few of his songs. It was a lot of fun...there were a lot of people there and the music was pretty good.

Having too much fun!

Last night Trevor and the guys went to the Dwight Yoakam concert at the The Joint at the Hard Rock. Everyone stayed at our house since we are only a couple miles away from there, so I offered to take them and pick them up since we know that trouble usually comes from Dwight Yoakam concerts! Let's just say it was a fun night for them...

Looking back, I guess a lot has happened in the past month! Trevor is of course at work so I had some free time!
Things I am looking forward to:
Valentine's Day
Trip to Atlanta
My Birthday!!

Have a great week!!

Duck Duck Goose

Well actually it's Duck, Goose, and Dove!!
Well hunting season is officially over....phew!! More often than not I don't mind hunting season, but with Trevor starting busy season at the beginning of January, working extremely long hours during the week and a few hours on Saturdays, the last thing I REALLY want is for Trevor to be out hunting during the few hours we have together during the weekend. I know Trevor loves hunting and it's only the first few weeks of busy, so I find ways to entertain myself! Plus he is usually gone so early that I don't even know he is gone half the time. Anyway...last weekend our neighbors Randy and Cassie decided we needed to fry up the duck, goose, and dove that they killed over the season. Although it was not a healthy evening by any means, we had fun frying up everything in the kitchen...
I know...it looks a little disgusting!

Battering them up...we did a few different variations of batter, but for the most part they all ended up tasting pretty similar. One was more flour based and then we used Bisquick in the others - of course we added several seasonings to all.

We fried up some potatoes and made some chips and then we did fish as well...it was delicious!!!!

Next up was the duck, goose and dove...

To be completely honest, the only thing that tasted good at all to me was the dove! The others liked the goose and duck as well, but I stuck with just the dove.

It was definitely an experience for me...however, I don't see myself cooking much goose or duck in the up and coming months! If you do choose to cook duck or goose, I don't think I would recommend frying it. I know that those meats are supposed to be cooked really rare and the fryer just cooks it too fast that it ends up being a little over done. Trevor sent quite a bit of duck and goose away for someone to make sausage and jerky...so I'll let you know how all that turns out when we get the results!
Well this was officially the most un-girly post I have ever written!
I'm kind of behind on posts, so I will try and catch up in the next week or so! HAPPY MONDAY!
